Indoor vs Outdoor Bean Bags: What's the Difference (and Why It Matters)
It's tempting to think a bean bag is a bean bag — but the fabric underneath the cover is doing a lot of work, and using the wrong one in the wrong spot is the number one reason a bean bag doesn't last.
Indoor fabrics
Our indoor range uses corduroy, linen, faux fur and velvet — soft, comfortable fabrics built for everyday indoor wear and tear, with removable covers you can hand wash or gently machine wash. None of these are designed to handle rain, direct sun for extended periods, or being left outside.
Outdoor fabrics
Our outdoor range uses 600D polyester (great for general outdoor use) and Olefin (built for constant outdoor exposure and harsh Aussie UV). Both are wipe-clean or hose-down fabrics that won't break down in the weather the way an indoor fabric would.
Why it matters
Put an indoor bean bag outside and you're looking at mould, fading, and a cover that breaks down within a season. Put a heavy-duty outdoor fabric indoors and you'll wonder why it doesn't feel as soft as you expected — it's built for durability first, comfort second.
