Bean Bag Care 101: How to Clean and Maintain Your Bean Bag

A bean bag that's cared for properly will easily outlast one that isn't — and the good news is, upkeep takes minutes, not hours.

Indoor bean bags (corduroy, linen, faux fur, velvet)

• Wipe clean with a damp cloth for everyday spills.
• Covers are removable — hand wash or gentle machine wash, then hang to dry.
• Don't bleach, tumble dry, or iron.
• Let it dry fully before use — colour transfer can happen on pale or damp surfaces otherwise.

Outdoor bean bags (600D, Olefin)

• Hose down or wipe with mild soap and water.
• Allow to fully air dry before use.
• Not machine washable — the fabric is designed to be weatherproof, not machine-cycle proof.

PU leather

• Wipe down regularly with a damp cloth — no washing needed.
• Keep it out of direct, prolonged sun to stop it drying out or cracking.

General tips that apply to every bag

• Give it a shake every so often to redistribute the fill and keep the shape even.
• Expect some settling in the first 30–90 days — a top-up is normal, not a fault.
• Keep an eye on seams and the zip; if either looks worn, stop use and get in touch.
